Ingredients

Two 20 oz cans green jackfruit in brine†

1/2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp salt

2 tbsp oil
-
1 cup barbecue sauce†

1/4 cup water
-
8 pack buns

Instructions

Rinse and drain the canned jackfruit and place it in a bowl.

Add the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt, and stir until well combined.

Heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium heat in a large skillet and fry the jackfruit for 3 minutes.

Next, add 1 cup of barbecue sauce, and reduce the heat to low.

Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes, adding the ¼ cup of water to thin the sauce if needed. Stir occasionally.

Once the jackfruit has softened, remove it from the heat and pull it apart with 2 forks.

Serve it on a bun with all your favorite no-protein fixings.
